Honoring a Legacy of Care: Celebrating 20 Years of Service

For more than two decades, Dr. Steven Golbus has been a cornerstone of Volunteers in Medicine San Diego, serving as both a dedicated volunteer physician and trusted Medical Director.

Throughout his years of service, Dr. Golbus has provided compassionate, high-quality care to thousands of patients.

Beyond caring for patients, Dr. Golbus has served as a mentor, leader, and advocate for volunteer medicine. His guidance and dedication have helped strengthen our organization and ensure that uninsured adults throughout San Diego County have access to the care they deserve.

Although Dr. Golbus is stepping away from his role as Medical Director, his impact will continue to be felt for years to come through the patients he cared for, the volunteers he inspired, and the foundation he helped build.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Golbus for his extraordinary service and wish him all the best in this next chapter.

Celebrating Service, Compassion & Community

At Volunteers in Medicine San Diego, our mission is made possible by an extraordinary community of volunteers, healthcare professionals, board members, donors, and community partners who generously give their time, expertise, and support.

This spring, we gathered together to celebrate the people who make our work possible and to recognize the collective impact we are making in the lives of uninsured adults throughout San Diego County.

The event provided an opportunity to honor dedicated volunteers, celebrate the remarkable legacy of Dr. Steven Golbus, and reflect on the power of community partnerships in advancing access to healthcare.

Every patient served, every appointment provided, and every success story begins with individuals who believe that healthcare should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances.

We are grateful for each volunteer, supporter, and partner who continues to stand alongside us in this mission.

Creating a More Welcoming Space for Patients

At Volunteers in Medicine San Diego, every improvement to our clinic helps us better serve the patients who rely on us for care.

Thanks to the generous support of the Art Pratt Foundation and Rotary Club, we recently completed several clinic enhancements designed to create a more welcoming, organized, and efficient environment for both patients and volunteers.

Grant funding supported new furnishings, technology upgrades, and workspace improvements that have enhanced daily operations and improved the patient experience throughout our clinic.

These investments help ensure that every individual who walks through our doors is welcomed into a space that reflects the dignity, compassion, and quality of care they deserve.

We are deeply grateful to the Art Pratt Foundation and Rotary Club for their partnership and commitment to improving access to healthcare in our community.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, Volunteers in Medicine San Diego remains committed to ensuring that residents of San Diego County can access healthcare services and support, regardless of their ability to pay.

Building on the strong foundation established by our volunteers, providers, board members, and community partners, we are focused on expanding our impact and strengthening our services to meet the growing needs of our community.
