Oceanside Civitan Awards Volunteers in Medicine San Diego September 2019

The worldwide mission of Civitan International is to build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization of clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs, with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.  The local club, Oceanside Civitan, is doing just that!  Throughout the year Oceanside Civitan conducts fundraisers to support local charities, including Volunteers in Medicine San Diego (VIM-SanDiego, which has been a recipient of their generosity for several years.  Some of their activities include Bunco, chili cookoffs and painting parties.

At its annual allocation meeting September 9, Oceanside Civitan presented funds to several nonprofit organizations.  VIM-SD will use funds to purchase diagnostic services and medications for those in need. Without support for these services, our volunteer Physicians would not be able to perform their duties and serve their patients.  Diagnostic services are key in ensuring appropriate diagnosis of a patient and monitoring their improvements over time.
